Dr. Joanna Guzik

Assistant professor at the Institute of the Middle and Far East of the Jagiellonian University (UJ) in Krakow. She studied Jewish Studies (Faculty of History, Jagiellonian University) as a BA student and Middle and Far Eastern Studies as a graduate student in Cultural Studies (Faculty of International and Political Studies, Jagiellonian University). In the academic year 2003-2004 she went on a scholarship to Kansai Gadai (Japan). She received her MA and PhD in philosophy from the Jagiellonian University in 2004 and 2010, respectively. Since 2006, she has been working at the Institute of the Middle and Far East of the Jagiellonian University as a lecturer, since 2011 as an assistant, and since 2015 as an assistant professor. In 2013, she received a special award from the Dean of the Jagiellonian University for the publication in Polish of "Japan's policy towards the Jewish question in the years 1932-1945". She works closely with Kobe University (Japan) in research and teaching projects; board member of the European Association of Israel Studies.
